Description

The Avalokitesvara Singing Bowl features the compassionate Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara (“buddha-to-be”) with 11 heads and 8 arms in the centre of the inner-base of the bowl. The Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara symbolizes compassion and the promise of release from suffering in Buddhism. Also called, Chenrezig in Tibet.

The Mantra of Avalokitesvara, Om Mani Padme Hum is widely chanted in Tibet and other places around the world. The mantra signifies the practice of a path in which an individual can transform one's impure body, speech, and mind into the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha.

The Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara singing bowl is surrounded by beautiful and intricate Tibetan symbols and motifs like lotus flowers, crossed Vajra, texts and mantras in the inner and outer walls, and outer base of the bowl. They are one of the most complex iconographies in any religion. Each of them hold a deep and spiritual significance in Buddhism.

The singing bowl is meticulously hand-hammered, tuned, polished, and etched with intricate detail by our Newari artisans in Nepal. The sound of the singing bowl is tested thoughtfully to meet the highest standards. It takes a long time to craft the bowl. It is made up of high-quality bronze.

While Avalokitesvara is the central design element located in the inner center of each bowl, the etched designs on the inner and outer walls, as well as the outer surface, could vary from bowl to bowl as it embodies the artists' natural creativity, reflected in every piece they craft.

The singing bowl measures in the range of 22-23cm in diameter, weighing in the range of 1.3-1.4kg.
