History

Lingam Tibetan singing bowls trace back to the 16ᵗʰ century, making them some of the oldest Himalayan sound bowls in Tibet and Nepal. Since ancient times, they were used in spiritual rituals, sound healing practices and temple ceremonies. The bowls carry deep symbolic meaning, making them one of a kind. The bowl has a raised cone, known as the lingam, in the centre of the inner base, symbolising the sacred masculine and creative energy. It is this distinct feature that gives the bowl its name. They are renowned for their superior sound quality.

About our Lingam Singing Bowl

Each of our modern Lingam singing bowls is handcrafted from bronze by a small team of skilled Newari artisans in Nepal. They follow time-honoured hand-hammering techniques that have been passed down through generations, ensuring that each bowl is both a work of art and a vessel for sound.

These heavy, thick-walled singing bowls produce a rich, clear and grounding tone that resonates deeply and lingers. This makes them extremely easy to play. They produce a sound with multiple harmonics that can be heard and felt.

Our small collection of Lingam sound bowls includes a variety of sizes and top diameters. They have top diameters of approx. 20 cm (1.3-1.5 kg) and 21-23 cm (1.7-1.8 kg). 

Each singing bowl is handcrafted, so slight variations in diameter and weight, as well as small marks or surface scratches, are natural and part of its authentic character.

Usage

Lingam Tibetan Singing Bowls are often used in yoga and meditation sessions, as well as in sound healing or therapy sessions, to support chakra balancing and create a sense of inner peace.
